On October 31st 2013, Lieselot Bisschop gave a guest lecture at Cornell University (NY, USA). She was invited to the course “Environmental Governance” of Prof. dr. Steven Wolf of the Department of Natural Resources. This part of the course addressed the topic of international environmental governance focusing on supra-national actors and resources for coordination at transnational and even global scales. Students prepared with assigned readings on global environmental governance (Biermann and Pattberg 2008) and on multilateral environmental institutions (Iwama 2004). Dr Lieselot Bisschop presented her research on how the management of electronic waste raises difficulties for global environmental governance. She provided the class with an analysis of the various actors involved and the legal frameworks in place for governing electronic waste.
