Research Workshop on the Transnational Role of Private Security, Griffith University Brisbane
From 28 th May to 1 st June 2012, Marleen Easton and Arne Dormaels participated in a “Workshop on the Transnational Role of Private Security” organized by Philip Stenning at the Griffith University in Brisbane. The primary goal of this workshop was to broaden the scope of research on policing and to include the transnational involvement of private security next to the traditional research on state-sponsored police. One of the outcomes was a common agreement to develop a research program on the transnational role of private security in the coming years.
The research workshop was attended by Professor Philip Stenning (Griffith University, Australia), Professor Marleen Easton (University College Ghent, Belgium), Professor Andrew Goldsmith (University of Wollongong, Australia), Professor Monique Marks (University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa), and Dr Alison Wakefield (University of Portsmouth) as well as early career researchers Julie Berg (Cape Town University, South Africa), Dr. Ruth Delaforce (Research Fellow, CEPS, Griffith University), Dr. Saskia Hufnagel (Research Fellow, CEPS, Griffith University), Dr. Russell Brewer, (Research Fellow, Australian National University, Canberra) and Arne Dormaels (University College Ghent, Belgium).
